Joan Osborne returns to pop
After forays into soul and country music over the past few years, Joan Osborne [ ] returns to the pop fold with a pass tour in support of her forthcoming ninth studio apartment album.
The eclectic singer/songwriter--who performed last class in Nashville's Grand Ole Opry, and the previous year toured with Phil Lesh and Friends--will kick off the outing Sept. 5 in Beaver Creek, CO. Osborne will hit 31 cities on the trek, the first club of them shared dates with country-rock veteran John Hiatt.

Osborne will be supporting "Little Wild One," which hits stores Sept. 9. Sister of the most influential voice of India, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle was born September 8, 1933. In April 1942 her don Dinath Mangeshkar died, causing turbulence in the family which moved from Pune to Kolhapur and in turn to Bombay. Around the age of ten she apparently sang her offset film song in the Marathi film Majha Bal. Spears Loses Place In Hollywoods Top Female Earners
Britney Spears is determined to get her career back on track - after losing her place in a select group of Hollywood's richest women.
The pop superstar has been nudged from the top 10 celebrity female earners in a new rich list compiled by Forbes magazine.
Spears made the top 10 last year (07) in a similar study by the publication, but just missed out in the 2008 poll ? she was placed 11th on the list with an estimated fortune of $102 million (GBP51 million).
The biggest earner on the Forbes list was chatshow queen Oprah Winfrey, who tops the poll with a massive $1.5 billion (GBP750 million) fortune.
Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling is second after amassing a $1.1 billion (GBP550 million) fortune thanks to phenomenal global sales of her beloved books and its movie adaptations.
Other top earners include Madonna with $325 million (GBP162 million), Celine Dion with $250 million (GBP125 million) and singer Mariah Carey, who has earned $226 million (GBP113 million).

Nas Steadfastly Determined to Please Record Company
Nas's ongoing efforts to make his upcoming untitled ninth album (previously titled Nigga, then Nigger) the most commercial, easily marketable one of his career continue with this newly unveiled cover, which features his back apparently covered in whip marks. The record will include such tracks as "Be a Nigger Too" (the first single), "N.I.G.G.E.R." (no word yet on what this is an acronym for), and "The Fear (of the Black Man's Dick)," and is expected to be preceded by a mix tape tentatively titled The Nigger Tape. We'll give it to Nas: He is not screwing around. You have to respect that, and we're looking forward to watching every newspaper in America twist itself in circles just to write about the album.
